Crouch, touch, paaaaauseeee...ENGAGE!!!

Between that bunch of people who looks like in a drunken fight, I’m the of the back-right, at bottom… and no, it’s not a fight, we are playing Rugby.

This picture was taken at the UMCE’s sport complex in Ñuñoa, in September 21 of 2011, and it’s part of our first official Rugby game as the FAU team against laws’ team, for the Universidad de Chile’s inter faculty tournament.

This picture show specifically a common rugby movement called Line, which consist on throw the “ball” between 2 lines of players (3 to 5players each line) distanced by 1mt approx.  who must rise the tallest member, and then he  try to fight in the air to obtain the ball. As you can see, we won that line.

I really like that picture because first at all represent a whole semester of hard training as a team, and the most of us have never played it before, so the nervousness/exciting was up to high, considering that the law team is well-known because his triumphs and skilled players (they formed that team more than a couple of years ago, we just 6 months ago).

I don’t really know who took it, but I´m really thankful to him/her, because we lose that match for infinite to 0, but it´s useful to encourage us for the next tournament this year… our goal:

Smash their faces on the grass and demonstrate who faculty rules!

This must be one of the most beloved gadgets that I’ve had in my whole life, the playstation (or psx) it’s the beginning of an era that will mark my life forever.

First at all, the psx it’s a typical  videogame console, and one of its most remarkable features are the inclusion of 3D graphics, and the CD as the support for games, which was a revolution in that time (1994).

I obtained my “first” psx in October 1999, for my 10th birthday. This could sound really weird, but I’ll never forget that day, basically because my parents never bought me a super nintendo, saying that videogames are prejudicially for childrens learning and stuff… (today scientific researches says exactly the oppose). This console becomes in one of my friends, actually every day instead of hang out with my “real” friends (like a kid…), we reunited at my house and spent many hours trying to defeat ”true ogre” in very hard difficulty (the final boss of tekken 3, a fighting videogame). My second psx I obtained a year later (the second because I burnt the first one), and today, I still playing next gen videogames (ps2 from 2003) and xbox 360 from 2007… sincerely I’ll do it till my retire and beyond, thanks for all Play Station.

bbboring.co.uk

Personally, that’s not the kind of webpage that I used to visit to learn English or any other language, actually I found it a little annoy, or maybe boring. Just the fact to use the web to specifically learn is, from my point of view, a waste of time. I’d prefer to watch a movie without subs, or play a videogame (a real videogame) and decode the walkthrough, or just read articles about my interests in foreign language and use web dictionaries to understand it … well, I don’t wanna transform this text in a critic based on my studies methods, so I’ll write what I saw in that page.

There is a really boring section about grammars, with random videos (random topics) and audios, then, a less boring section with articles and news (there you can find a couple interesting ones like the green building), and the rest I don’t really want to explore it, but I would  give it a chance… (please don’t misunderstand me, I’m not saying that the contents are basic, but the “web concept” it’s not for this days, when the information is everywhere and you must incorporate it to your daily life.

Brasilia

In 2010, I had the opportunity to visit one of the most relevant metropolis in the modern architecture’s history, the Brazil’s capitol, Brasilia.
I traveled with a bunch of FAU’s students, some of them my best friends, and take us a lot of hours to arrive because of the bad airline organization (worst airline ever).

One of the main reasons for my visit was the Latin-American encounter of architecture’s students, a massive celebration which each year congregate thousands of young people around the same topic, architecture/urbanism. But, obviously, a lot of young stressed students cannot only talk about their careers, so parties were a must.

The daily schedule was divided between seminaries, workshops, forums, guided visits and parties, so we were active all the time for a period of 7 days (yeah, a whole week). That give us the chance to learn how actually work a modern city and most important, meet people from all over the continent, from Brazilians to Peruvians, Paraguayans etc. ,contacts that continue even today.
